You decide it's silly to jump at every little thing. You're armed with a sword, and the animal doesn't look remotely dangerous. You're not going to walk right up to it anyway. You continue walking, and your path takes you right by it. You notice the thick tangled deep purple fur on its body, and the shaggy light purple hair like yarn that hangs over its eyes. It continues grazing docily, and appears not to notice you. When you pass within five feet, you can smell it. It hears your footsteps as you trudge through the grass. It appears startled and looks up at you. As it raises its head, you see its small beady black eyes. Your joints become stiff. You look down and feel your arm as your skin becomes leathery, and then hard and crusty. You see your skin whiten. You try to take your right hand off your left arm and are unable to. All of your joints have locked up. Then you become paralyzed even though you're still standing up. You can't feel anything. You notice your arm looks like marble right before you go blind. You deafen simultaneously. You can't feel, see, or hear anything. You feel light-headed. An odd dizzyness comes over you. You panic. The last thought to cross your mind before you pass out is the idea that this is a creature that can turn animals and people to stone.
